This article isn’t to help you make the decision; it is supposed to make you think about what drives you to make the decision. We all have greed and we all have a conscience. But when it comes down to our conscience, what leads us to make one choice instead of another on what drives you?
Have you ever had a tough decision to make? Most people have. What efforts go into making a decision? Some people have someone they have to ask while others make the decision on what benefits them most, yet some people base their decision on what benefits the greatest amount of people. What kind of person are you? Good decision making is an essential skill for career success and effective leadership. Difficult decisions usually involve uncertainty and high risk consequences. So these difficult decisions are where some people set aside their personal values in order to gain the most from their decisions.
Decisions have a great deal to do with our personal values. Your values are the things that you believe are important in the way you live and work. They should determine your priorities. A value is a belief, a mission, or a philosophy that is meaningful. Whether we are consciously aware of them or not, every individual has a core set of personal values.
We can energize our lives by making the full effort to implement the values we subscribe to. Once we identify values that are meaningful to us, we can develop ways to implement them. When we make the determined effort to implement those strategies, good fortune is sure to follow in the form of new opportunities, new sources of revenue and income, and other forms of material and psychological benefit. We may even notice that as we implement values, we experiences instances of life response where good fortune suddenly comes to us from seemingly out of nowhere, defying our normal perceptions of what is logical and possible. In my opinion this only happens when our decisions are directly related to our personal values. Life gives back to us in abundance, but only when we are giving to life.
So the next time you have a tough decision to make remember to align it with your personal values and for the greater good and you cannot go wrong!
