Can you be happy all of the time? NO!! Happiness can be like the seasons, it comes and it goes. Not many people in this world are happy all the time.
I routinely stop by the convenience store before I come to the office on Monday mornings. Every Monday I see the same group of people walking around the store. They have no energy, frowns on their faces, and dread written across their faces. All because they know they have a full day of work ahead of them and they would rather be somewhere else. Yet when I stop by the store Friday evening after work, I notice some of these same people. But this time most of these people are smiling and have a hop in their step. Everyone is happy their work for the week is complete and it is time to relax and have fun. What is the difference? What has changed? Nothing more than circumstance. Each person has the same health, wealth, and families they had Monday morning. The only difference is their circumstance.
Every one of us has things in life we do that we do not enjoy. But if we try to do it with a smile and accept the unpleasantness will soon be over, eventually our circumstance will change. The key is to choose to be happy even when you are not. Believe things will get better. Happiness is a choice. If each morning you tell yourself “I’m going to be happy today, even when things don’t go my way. Today is a good day!” chances are you’ll be more open to enjoying what life brings you during the day. If you help a complete stranger and bring a smile to their face, it will bring you happiness as well.
The next time you’re down, smile for no reason or laugh at nothing. We are all programmed for happiness; we sometimes lose sight of that due to our circumstances. Remember circumstances will change and happiness is just around the corner. Choose to be happy! Today is a Great Day!
