Have you ever heard the phrase “Patience is a virtue”? It’s used quite often. Last year, RCI Insurance became part of a character based training group. Each month we get a new character trait. During the month of October, RCI is working on the character trait Patience.
Patience is defined by Webster Dictionary as “the capacity, habit, or fact of being patient.” The act of being patient requires you to relax when you feel frustrated or at your wits end, to continue to follow your plan even when unexpected challenges arise, and to make the most of what ever situation you are in. Make good use of your down time. Sometimes being patient means having to recognize what should change and then making that change. But above all, a person with patience keeps trying and in turn passes on their vision to those that can accomplish it.
Many times in the Oklahoma insurance business, our office is called upon to demonstrate patience. Whether it’s working a new auto quote or going over a commercial insurance proposal with a prospective new client. Every day we have a new opportunity to show our clients and possible future clients our level of patience. Some days we fail, yet other days we pass with flying colors.
If you live in the city of Claremore, you know all about learning patience while out driving around town. Whether it’s the many trains that come through our little town every five minutes, or the crazy construction work going on for the next six months, or how about the wild traffic that hits every work day at noon, any of these reasons are good opportunities to work on patience. It’s not hard to let these circumstances cloud our direction, but if we remember to practice patience it will certainly make life a little bit more bearable for ourselves and a little easier for those around us.
